Yorkshire Improvers Pairs

This event is to be held at LEEDS Bridge Club on 1st April 2012.

This is a copy of the description of the Event, in order to give you some idea of the standard.

The event is intended to give a gentle introduction to tournament play for players who have recently completed the second year of a bridge course and those developing their bridge through club improver duplicates and who hold fewer than 200 masterpoints.
The afternoon will comprise 24 boards played at a relaxed pace with participants allowed to make brief reference to a single A4 sheet of notes or convention card.
Allowable systems are Standard English Foundation Level or Standard English Modern Acol.
Entry is restricted to 40 pairs.

Please could anyone who is interested in playing let me know.
I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who would like to play , but thinks they have just a few too many local points registered to qualify. I feel the level has been set too low, and I would endeavour to get the level raised a bit...if not for this year , but for future years

This event will happen on Feb 9th. Teams are fun so try to make a team and join in.
Novices are those with a ranking less than a Regional Master. To check your ranking you need to go to the EBU site and use your membership number as a password.

Bridge lessons

Thursday Morning bridge

This group as been well supported and will continue to meet up to Christmas and resume playing together again on Thursday 5th January.
We enjoyed a Christmas Party with the Beginners U3A group who also meet and play on Thursday mornings. All are welcome to come long and play in a friendly atmosphere. You don't need a partner.

C Team had a lovely tea

Huddersfield C Team were away to Garforth D and played at the Barwick-in-Elmet Cricket Club pavilion. A lovely venue if a bit on the small side for 3 matches!

After a draw, a win by 5 Imps and then another by 10 Imps, we were all in high spirits as we broke for tea. To make a lovely surprise it was home-made Shepherds Pie with peas and sweetcorn and bread and butter. Very nice and was followed by the best apple pie I've eved tasted.

All of this must have gone to our heads unfortunately, so we ended up losing the last round by 18 pts, wiping off our lead, but we're all happy with the draw.

Thanks to my partner, Peter Skuse. We had no dramas. A lovely afternoon of bridge.
