WHAT WE DO

Huddersfield Bridge Club is affiliated to the English Bridge Union (EBU) and caters for all types of bridge players. There are opportunities for social bridge in a friendly and relaxed environment, and also opportunities for more competitive players who wish to pit their wits against opposition both internally and external to the club. We run Duplicate Bridge Sessions a number of times each week, and have a number of teams in the Yorkshire League.

OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION

ACCESSIBILITY: A chairlift is available. However, access to the club is up an external flight of steps.

SMOKING: The club operates a no smoking policy, and no smoking is allowed in the building or the grounds.

BEST BEHAVIOUR AT BRIDGE

While nobody at Huddersfield Bridge Club wants to get heavy handed about behaviour at the table whilst playing Bridge, particularly as the vast majority of the time all sessions and members are exemplary in their behaviour, we do want to remind you from time to time that as membbers of the EBU we all sign up to a code of conduct entitled "Best Behaviour at Bridge" which can be seen under the BRIDGE ETIQUETTE tab.

If you have any concerns about any other member's behaviour at any time, pleaase make the TD aware or contact me (Michael) personally. The committee are determined that HBC will have a reputation as a great place to enjoy learning and playing bridge. We continue to strive to attract and integrate new members, as well as organising lessons. Our Thursday morning session is an integral part of this, where members new to Bridge get to practise their recently acquired skills in a more relaxed and forgiving environment, and at a slower pace.

We also welcome more experienced members to this session to help the beginners, but the primary focus is on the beginner, and therefore extra patience is required as the pace may be slow, beids may be misunderstood, and mistakes will be made despite the laws of Duplicate Bridge being followed. One last request - if advice is reuqested (and only IF requested) please do share your opinion in a friendly and helpful way.

If this extra patience requiremet is not for you, then we have regular sessions during the week - see Club Information for details. The same standards of behaviour apply at all times.
